January 2008

Dear Food Lover,

Admittedly, winter can be a scarce period for produce, but you can count on Balducci's to search all over to find fresh, ripe fruits and vegetables for our markets, no matter what time of year it is.

Our main focus for January is citrus fruit, specifically ones grown and harvested by Rising C Ranches in Fresno, California. Rising C is different from other citrus growers because they don't rush out to pick their oranges at the first sign of ripeness. Instead, they wait until they've reached the peak of maturity to assure the very best tasting oranges, lemons, and limes. Read our first article to learn more.

While you're in the produce section, try Manflas grapes from Chile. Read our second article to learn why this company-and their grapes-are so special.

Just because it's January doesn't mean you have to do without sweet and juicy fruit. Our new feature, the "Top 100" list, will soon be making an appearance on our website, and will describe some of our best-selling fruits and vegetables. Keep an eye out for it!
