Cornicabra and Arbequina
Two olive oils, equally spectacular, vying for the affections of your palate.

The Arbequina
We were the first store on the East coast to carry the Zoe Diva Arbequina variety, and we're as much in love with it now as when we got our first sample and tried it! Then again, it's easy to fall in love with this extra virgin olive oil made of 100 % percent Arbequina olives. This absolute purity means a light, fruity, delicate taste that is perfect for drizzling over fish, chicken, salads and steamed vegetables.

The precious flavor of this oil has a good deal to do with the olives used to create it. The Arbequina olive takes its name from Arbeca, where it originates. The Arbequina olive has a low yield but produces a high quality oil that is internationally lauded and coveted. This is made even more evident by the fact that these olives are so small they must be picked by hand. The oil is cold pressed and reveals a complex flavor with hints of spice and a fruity aroma.

The Cornicabra
Zoe Cornicabra, like the arbequina, is 100% cold pressed oil from cornicabra olives. Considered a "regal" olive throughout the Mediterranean, the cornicabra has a protected destination of origin in Castilla-La Mancha. The name "cornicabra" means "goat's horn' in Spanish due to the horn-like appearance of the olive itself.

While it is just as exquisite as the arbequina, the cornicabra is uniquely full-flavored and full-bodied, with a fruity, nutty flavor that is balanced by a peppery finish. Some tasters have noted hints of artichoke. Because of its fuller body, cornicabra can be used in a large scope of cooking applications--from marinating to frying to sautéing.

Both of these oils will be on special display in our stores for the entire month of April, along with our balsamic vinegar.
