Few would contest the fact that French sauces are some of the best in the world. The meticulous attention to detail, the perfectly balanced combination of ingredients, the slow and gentle cooking time--they all add up to sauces that are as frustratingly complex as they are delicious.
Because we know you don't want to sacrifice taste for convenience, we are featuring Delouis sauces, available in our Dairy section. Each sauce is made in the French tradition using the freshest natural ingredients, so it's as close to the real thing as you can get, short of making them yourself.
Take a look at what Delouis makes to tempt your tastebuds:
- Béarnaise -- the classic French sauce is made with fresh butter. This is the sauce to serve with all manner of roasted meat, eggs, and vegetables, because it adds dimensions of depth to the natural taste of the foods. Delouis sauce is perfectly balanced, so all you have to do is heat to achieve the desirable consistency and follow the tradition. $4.69
- Hollandaise -- the finest partner to both asparagus and eggs Benedict, this sauce is made in a similar manner to béarnaise. Again, simply heat to enjoy. $4.69
- Mayonnaise -- this sauce is as close to the homemade version as you can get, since it's made with fresh lemon juice, safflower oil, egg yolks, and Dijon mustard. This one will definitely give you second thoughts about all the other mass-produced mayonnaises you've ever had. $5.99
About Delouis
Delouis' award-winning sauces have been a venture over one hundred years in the making! In 1885, the Delouis family purchased a vinegar factory in Limoges, establishing their presence in the French condiment business. By the 1970's, business had boomed to the point that the head of the company, Phillipe Delouis, expanded the company to create salad dressings and sauces. In 1998 Delouis unrolled its fresh mayonnaise,
which won Best New Product at the Fancy Foods show that same year.
